Choirs at Resurrection The Adult Parish Choir Under the direction of Organist/Choirmaster Dr. Leanne Fazio, 15-22 choir members lead the congregation in music for worship. Services include the Sunday 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist and other special services during the church year. Those services include the Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, Epiphany, Maundy Thursday, and the Easter Vigil. During the years since Leanne began her ministry at Resurrection in 2001, the choir has held annual weekend retreats to foster community and matters of music and spirit. Rehearsals are held weekly during the academic year on Wednesday evenings and before the 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist on Sundays. Additional rehearsals are held before special services. Musical reading skills and experience are not required for joining the choir. The Children’s Choir Under the direction of Barbara McCain and Leanne Fazio, children in grades one through six meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30. The children participate in worship at the 10:30 Holy Eucharist throughout the academic year. Rehearsal activities include preparation for participating in worship, learning to read music, and learning principles of good singing. The Summer Choir The Adult Parish Choir joins the congregation in the pews during the summer. Thus the Summer Choir was born--anyone who wishes may meet in the Parish Hall at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning to sing through music for the service that day. Parishioners may sing as many or as few Sundays as they can schedule. Bell Ringing Ministry In the spring of 2006, the Children’s Choir launched the new children’s Bell Ringing Ministry. First graders and older invite the world to join us in worship by ringing the bell as we begin the 10:30 Holy Eucharist and announce our re-entering the world to serve it as we end the Eucharist. Children’s Choir mother Nancy Christiansen assists each child/person with the timing and technique of ringing.
