Holy Week Worship Schedule
Holy Week is the most sacred week in the church year,
beginning with Jesus' triumphant arrival in the city of
Jerusalem, proceeding to the poignant evening of the Last
Supper on Maundy Thursday, climaxing with the desolation of
the Cross on Good Friday, culminating in the brilliance and
hope of the Easter Sunrise. You are invited and encouraged
to full immerse yourself in this very special week.

CAMPUS SERVICES - The Holy Eucharist is celebrated each
Wednesday at the Chapel of Memories on Campus at 12:05 p.m.,
followed by a Dutch Treat Lunch.
SOUP AND BREAD LUNCHEONS continue on Tuesdays, following the
noon Eucharist. Thanks to all who have signed up to make
soup and bread, and to Evelyn and Don Emerich and Jean and
Charles Little who are once again coordinating the
luncheons.
EASTER FLOWERS - If you would like to contribute to the
Easter Flower Fund, please mark your check "Easter Flowers"
or use the special envelopes in the pews. After Easter you
may take a lily home to plant in your garden.
BIRTHDAY SUNDAY - April 2nd is Birthday Sunday. In honor of
those with April birthdays, cake and punch will be served in
the Student Center after the 10:30 service. Please join us!
Helpers are needed for the summer months. See the list in
the narthex or Kim Noffsinger to volunteer.

ST. MARTHA'S GUILD will meet Monday, April 3rd in the
Student Center at 12:30 p.m. for a brown bag lunch and
fellowship. Visitors are always welcome.
CAREGIVERS will meet Tuesday, April 4th at 10:00 a.m. in the
reception area of the office. In this caring ministry,
volunteers meet with the Rector and learn of the needs and
concerns of the parish and then assist in any way they
can...with visits, meals, cards and phone calls.
SECOND SUNDAY SHARING is April 9th . Please mark your check
"Outreach."
BOOK SIGNING - The second in our series of Literary
Afternoons at Resurrection will be Sunday, April 9th from
3:00- 5:00 p.m. in the Student Center. Martin Hegwood of
Canton, author of the critically acclaimed mystery, Big Easy
Backroads, will speak and sign books. (books will be for
sale). Martin is a native of Pascagoula and an assistant
secretary of state in Mississippi. He is a former colleague
of Fr. Johnson's, and is currently editing his second novel.
Refreshments will be served. Come and bring a friend!
GUILD OF THE PALM CROSS will hold its annual meeting on
Saturday, April 15th at 10:00 a.m. in the Student Center, at
which time we will make the palm crosses for Palm Sunday.
On-site training is available - no experience needed. All
ages welcome. All you have to do to join is come!
PALM SUNDAY - The Rt. Rev. A. C. Marble, Jr., Bishop of
Mississippi, will once again be our celebrant at 10:30 on
Palm Sunday, April 16. The Bishop will baptize, confirm,
celebrate, and preach on one of the principal feast days of
the church year. The service that morning will begin in the
parking lot with the Liturgy of the Palms. A festive
reception for the Bishop, our new confirmands, and the newly
baptized will be held in the parish hall immediately
following the service. The loose offering that day will be
presented to the Bishop for his discretionary fund.
NAME TAG SUNDAY is April 16th. Wear a name tag so Bishop
Marble will know your name! Help a visitor follow the
service in the prayer book.
FOURTH SUNDAY POTLUCK - Since the Fourth Sunday is Easter,
in lieu of a potluck this month, there will be a reception
for Bishop Marble and our confirmands on Palm Sunday
following the 10:30 service.
EASTER EGG HUNT - EYC, under the direction of Kim
Noffsinger, will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt for children of
the church in the church yard on Saturday, April 22nd at
10:00 a.m. Parents of participating children are asked to
bring a dozen eggs (hard boiled, plastic or wrapped candy)
per child to the church by 3:00 p.m. Friday the 21st.
EASTER DAY SERVICES - The Feast of the Resurrection, Easter
Day, will be celebrated with three services this year. The
Great Vigil of Easter, with Baptism and the reading of the
sacred lessons of God's work in the world, will be
celebrated at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. Easter
morning will include our regularly scheduled services at
8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday School on
Easter Day.
FLOWERING OF THE CROSS - Children are encouraged to bring
fresh-cut flowers for the Flowering of the Cross at the
10:30 a.m. service on Easter Day.
PARISH BLOOD DRIVE - The spring Blood Drive will be held in
the Parish Hall on Sunday, May 7th from 11:00 a.m. until
3:00 p.m. If you know you will not be available to donate
that day, you may attend any Blood Drive sponsored by United
Blood Services and tell them you are giving in the name of
The Church of the Resurrection. You will then be counted in
our total. Watch for the sign-up sheet in the narthex. If we
have good support once again, the parish will continue to
have coverage for blood needs for all parishioners. If you
cannot give blood, you can help by supplying cookies, fruit
or sandwiches for the donors. See Ellen Newsom if you would
like to help.
COLUMBARIUM - The committee has met and is preparing an
informative visual presentation for the bulletin board.
Watch for it!
HONDURAS HABITAT MISSION - Resurrection and The Canterbury
Episcopal Fellowship at MSU will be participating in a
Habitat for Humanity style building program in Honduras from
May 28 to June 3. We will combine forces with St. Peter's
Church, Oxford, and Canterbury Fellowship at Ole Miss. Watch
for more information!
CALLING ALL 2000 GRADUATES - On Sunday, May 14th we will be
honoring our new graduates. If you, or someone in your
family is graduating, (or graduated in December, ) please
call Nelda in the church office. So far we have high school
graduates Amanda Boyd, Britton Boyd, Jessica Callahan, Chris
Johnson, Kyle Williams, and college graduates, David
Chambers and Amy Killebrew.
CONGRATULATIONS to Lu Switzer who has been named chair of
the diocesan Committee on Spirituality.
GREETINGS FROM AN OLD FRIEND - The Rev. Doug Carter has
accepted a call to be chaplain of The Episcopal Academy in
Tampa, Florida. His new address is 3910 East Eden Roc
Circle, Tampa, Florida 33634. Email revdc76@hotmail.com. For
the last several years Doug has been rector of Christ Church
in Mexico City. It will be good to have him back in the
USA!
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN - The Capital Campaign continues to grow!
Our total now is $408,072, with $191,178 collected. Our
goals of renewing and renovating our buildings are taking
shape under the guidance of the newly appointed committee,
chaired by David VanLandingham. Other members of the
committee are John Beal, Kathy Brandon, Michael Fazio, and
Happy Deas. We continue to be blessed in so many ways by the
success of this campaign.
YOUR PRAYERS ARE ASKED FOR Marlene Evans, Gretchen Passons
and Lavora Williams as they continue to undergo treatment;
Martha McAlpin who is recovering, and Lorene Martin who is
at home after her surgery in Jackson.
CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY is extended to Jim and Alice Jones on the
death of her mother, Mary Staub; to the family of Gene
Towles; to Warnie and Jacque Kennington on the death of his
brother, Robert Kennington, to Pam Kilby on the death of her
grandfather, Melvin O. Sullivan; and to John Wall on the
death of his grandmother, Joanne Roberson. "Rest eternal
grant them, O Father, and let light perpetual shine upon
them."
MEMORIALS were received last month in the name of Melvin O.
Sullivan, Virginia Deas, and Gene Towles.
VESTRY NOTES

Reviewed the work of and heard reports from the three parish
commissions, Parish Life, Stewardship, and Worship and
Liturgy.
Voted to retain a consultant to help make the transition
into new parish accounting and membership software.
Elected delegates and alternates to the 2001 diocesan
council, to be held in Tupelo.
Voted to recommend new lay Eucharistic ministers to Bishop
Marble.
Voted to participate in an exchange program with students
from York, England this summer.
Heard a report on the Honduras Habitat trip.
Heard a report on the election of Bishop Coadjutor.
