SEARCH
COMMITTEE UPDATE from John Beal: The Search Committee
will be analyzing the results of the Parish Questionnaire
and as promised, will publish the results. The next step is
to complete the Deployment Form for the Diocese and begin
writing the Parish Profile. The Deployment Form is required
by the National Church Deployment Office in New York to
describe the position, range of search, goals of the parish,
pastoral specialties required, parish life orientation and
education required. Basically, it is the form the diocese
sends to the National Church to match a priest with what we
are seeking. COLUMBARIUM - Sherrie VanLandingham reports: We now have a completed design for a Columbarium Garden, Labyrinth and Meditation Area which will be located in the courtyard south of the nursery! Dr. Pam Collins has created an extraordinary design to be built in two phases. The first phase will include the Columbarium Chapel and Meditation Area. The second phase will include the Labyrinth and surrounding plantings. Dr. Rachel McCann and Dr. David Lewis have created an exquisite Labyrinth design for us which includes a beautiful mosaic butterfly in the center. In addition to providing this design, they have made a financial contribution that will cover the cost to have it built. Pictures of the Labyrinth and Columbarium are on display in the Student Center. Special thanks go to Pam, Rachel, and David who have given to our church such wonderful gifts of love and design that will be enjoyed for years to come. Thanks also go to Sally Hester who used her special talents to design a beautiful brochure that tells the story of our Columbarium. We have started selling niches and taking memorial donations to the Columbarium. We have sold 18 niches at this time. We anticipate construction to begin in the spring of 2002. If you have any questions or would like to purchase a niche or niches please call any member of the committee: Mary Eleanor and Bob Anderson, Beth and Clark Callahan, Tommy Wakeman, Sherrie and David VanLandingham. RECYCLE - Have you noticed the green(?) Trash can in the Student Center marked RECYCLE? Please use it for cans and plastic bottles only! Paper and other trash goes in the trash can in the kitchen. Thanks! POOL NEWS - The pool is officially closed for the season. Many thanks to the McCormicks for managing the pool and to the Pearsons and other families who helped clean and maintain the pool of this year. It is a huge job and they have done it well! James and Juawice are retiring as pool managers so we owe them a special thanks for their faithful service. Consider this official notice that we are now looking for pool managers for next year! FALL BLOOD DRIVE put on hold! Due to the overwhelming generosity of Mississippians in the wake of the September 11th tragedy, United Blood Services asked us to postpone our blood drive for a couple of months. Thanks to all who were signed up to participate...hold that thought! LETTER OF THANKS Dear Friends, Thank you so much for receiving us so warmly into your church family. You have made us feel right at home and we love that. The reception you had for us on our first Sunday here was lovely. We knew right away the caliber of cooks in the parish.
