PARKING PROTOCOL - Remember there is parking behind Merchants & Farmers Bank (provided no trees have fallen across the sidewalk). Please leave the spots closest to the Parish Hall for those for whom walking may be a problem. SECOND SUNDAY SHARING is January 13th when we ask that you bring offerings of canned goods, staples and non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry.

ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION - Beginning on January 13th, Adult Christian Education is embarking on an Exodus study facilitated by Elizabeth Wheatley. We will be using the Kerygma Program resource book entitled: Exodus: Gateway to the Bible. This carefully structured program will provide the framework for our exploration of biblical theology and the themes of Exodus as a basis for theological reflection. Participants in this class are asked to purchase the resource book and participate through preparation, study and regular attendance. If you are interested in taking part in this class, you may sign up and acquire your resource book for $15.00 through the office.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - Please plan to attend the Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, January 27th when we will review 2001 and preview 2002 in terms of ministries and the allocation of funds for those ministries. Also, we will embark on the very important elections of Senior and Junior Wardens as well as three vestry members. Many thanks to Leigh Jensen and Happy Deas for their hard work and leadership. And thanks to Mary Lee Beal, Jack Hollister and Jerry Hatch for their faithful service over their three year terms on the vestry.

ANNUAL REPORT - If you are a committee head or leader of any ministry at Resurrection, please prepare a written report of your ministry for the 2001 Annual Parish Report. These reports are due by noon on January 11th, preferably typed and on a diskette or e-mailed directly to Nelda at epchurch@netdoor.com to ease the burden of compiling and printing the report for distribution.

VESTRY NOMINATIONS - With the departure of five people, please keep this period of transition - renovations and leadership - in mind as you discern who might be well-suited and gifted to serve on our vestry. Forms for vestry nominations are available in the church office and on the table in the Parish Hall.

VESTRY RETREAT - The Annual Vestry Retreat is scheduled for February 15-16th. Our faithful consultant, Linda Nelson will lead this retreat with our newly constituted vestry to help us discern our leadership as we continue to move through the search and renovations processes. The location of the retreat has not been determined, but all vestry members should plan to spend Friday night and all day Saturday on retreat.

STEWARDSHIP - Help! We are still missing a few pledges from people who pledged last year, and the money pledged is short of last year's budget! If you have not already pledged, please do so now! Thanks to all who have returned their pledge cards. It is time to plan the budget and activities for 2002! Your financial stewardship is crucial for the future of our parish, both in terms of hiring a new rector and in terms of our life and ministries!

DIOCESAN COUNCIL is in Vicksburg, February 1-3, 2002. Ellen Newsom is collecting names for registration and $55 fees for the weekend, or you may leave your name and check with Nelda in the Church office BEFORE January 7th, after which registration is $70. For lodging, we have reserved a block of rooms, including our own hospitality suite, at the Vicksburg Inn and Conference Center ($56/night). If you would like a room in our block, contact Ellen before January 4t.h. If you would be willing to help coordinate the hospitality suite, please call Ellen!

EYC will resume on January 6th from 5:00-7:00pm. Come have a slice of King Cake and let's get the semester kicked off with a Royal Bang! Check out the new diocesan website: www.episcoyouthms.org!

CANTERBURY services and activities will resume on January 8th. All are invited to participate in the Tuesday 12:30 Noonday Prayers at the MSU Chapel, it lasts less than 20 minutes. And, as usual, all are invite to celebrate the Holy Eucharist on Wednesdays at 7:00pm. Many of our young adults offer great thanks for the welcome they have received from their Adopt-A-Dawg families. If there are orphan dawgs out there and contact has not been made, please let Elizabeth know. As the semester progresses, please keep alert for notices about Reflection Groups and Forum gatherings.

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES IN MS are under construction! In the latter part of January, dialogues entitled "Lost Voices" will be held regionally across the diocese to hear the concerns, hopes and dreams of young adults (18 yrs old through late 30's) who feel lost in the church, but desire a church home. More details about the Northeast MS "Lost Voices" dialogue will be forthcoming in Sunday bulletins. Interested or have questions? Contact Elizabeth.

INQUIRERS' CLASS AND CONFIRMATION - It's that inquiring time of year again. As we anticipate the bishop's visitation, the time has come for us to engage in an Inquirers' Class for those who are curious about Christianity as expressed in the Episcopal tradition and those interested in confirmation, reaffirmation or reception. If you are interested in participating in an Inquirers' Class either on Sunday morning or on a week night, please contact Elizabeth to get your name on the list.

SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE from John Beal: We are in the process of completing the Parish Profile. The Search Committee is now accepting nominations from the congregation. If anyone has a nomination, please pick up a form in the church office, fill it out completely, and return it to John Beal. We should be getting nominations from the Central Deployment Office very soon. From all these nominations about 10 will be selected to consider seriously.

RENOVATION COMMITTEE REPORT - David VanLandingham reports that renovation work continues in the Student Center and church proper. In addition, the work continues on the new sacristy addition. The plaster has been patched and most of the new wood has been installed. The new underground electrical service is being run to the area of the old vesting room. The construction continues to be a dangerous area and should be avoided. Barring any unforseen circumstances the renovation work should be completed by the end of February.

NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY IN THE WORKS - Last call for changes in the directory. If you want your new E-mail address, phone number or address in the new directory, please contact the church office 323-3483 or epchurch@netdoor.com or Ellen Newsom at wnewsom9@bellsouth.net by January 7th. Our goal is to distribute the new directories at the Annual Parish Meeting.

HONDURAS BUILDING MISSION - We have planned a third building mission to San Pedro Sula, Honduras during Spring Break. Come help build houses, engage in spiritual camaraderie, and experience virtuous fun in the sun. If interested, please call contact David Lewis at dlewis@sarc.msstate.edu for details.

HAVE YOU NOTICED the green grass on the slope in front of the church? Many thanks to Tom Cathcart who seeded and watered the slope faithfully until the rains came. It looks great!

MANY THANKS - The list of thanks goes on and on as we thank all those who made our Advent and Christmas Services and celebrations so lovely and our projects a success. The parish musicians continue to do their usual outstanding job each week as well as special efforts on Lessons and Carols and Christmas Eve. The Altar Guild outdid themselves in taking on the challenge of decorating the Parish Hall for Christmas Eve Services. The parish family responded well to helping with the Salvation Army Bell ringing project and furnishing gifts and food for our Angel Tree families. And last but not least, thanks to Nelda for doing such a great job of keeping the special bulletins coming and keeping the office running smoothly in the midst of chaos! Good job one and all!

MORE THANKS - to Mary Lee and John Beal for hosting the Lessons and Carols Reception at their beautifully decorated home and to Babs Deas for arranging for all the delicious food and punch. And thanks to all the cooks of that delicious food! It was a splendid affair and we are most appreciative.

CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY is extended to the family and friends of Nancy Turnipseed. She and her husband died December 13th. "Rest eternal grant them, O Father, and let light perpetual shine upon them." Pray for all who mourn..

YOUR PRAYERS ARE ASKED FOR Marlene Evans, and LaVora Williams as they undergo treatment, Steve Wilkerson who has been hospitalized, for Guy Hargrove, and for Steve VanLandingham who serves in our Armed Forces.
