SUNDAY: TUESDAY: WEDNESDAY: THURSDAY: PARKING PROTOCOL - Now that we are back in the church, please remember that the upper parking lot is for those for whom the stairs are a problem and for those with young children. You may park in the lots at Merchants and Farmers and on the corner of Main & N. Montgomery. BIRTHDAY SUNDAY Birthday Sunday is Back! Beginning April 7th we will once again celebrate Birthday Sunday! Join us in the "New" Student Center to celebrate with those who have April birthdays. We need volunteers to do cake and punch each month. 1
Jennifer Damms ECW SPRING SALAD LUNCHEON - The Women of the church will celebrate the grand reopening of the Student Center with a Salad Luncheon on Tuesday, April 9th at Noon. Bring a salad to share and come enjoy the fellowship. Those who are on a lunch hour are invited to cut in and go through the line first! SACRISTY SHOWER - The Altar Guild will host a "shower" for the new Sacristy on Saturday, April 13th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Items such as waste baskets, paper towel holders, oasis, etc., as well as money to cover the costs of shelf lining are needed. A "wish list" is posted in the Narthex. Gifts may br brought to the Sacristy on April 13th or to the Church office. This invitation is open to all parishioners, not just Altar Guild members. Call Marsha Williams (323-2936) if you know of items that should be added to the "wish list". There will be an official dedication of the Sacristy in June. SECOND SUNDAY SHARING is April 14th. SPRING BLOOD DRIVE - The United Blood Services van will be in the Merchants and Farmers Parking lot April 14th from 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The oversupply of blood that caused cancellation of our September drive has been depleted. We will need some "new blood" to make our quota as several of our faithful donors are not eligible. If we meet our quota of 20 donors the entire parish family will be covered for blood needs for 6 months. The sign up sheet is in the Narthex. If you would prefer to give at another UBS Blood drive, just ask them to credit Resurrection and then notify Nelda. Don't forget to bring an ID! GOODIES FOR DONORS - If you would like to participate in the blood drive in a way other than giving blood, you may supply cookies, fruit or sandwiches. The sign up list is in the Narthex. RENOVATION COMMITTEE REPORT - David VanLandingham reports that our first service was held in the renovated Nave on Sunday, March 17, 2002. It felt good finally to be back in our worship space! Most of the punch list items have been completed by the contractor. Over the next few months there will probably be some additional warranty items which will need to be repaired. This is normal with a project of this scope. Hopefully, the re-worked stained glass windows will be back within the next few weeks. EYC meets every Sunday night from 5:00-7:00pm at the church, unless otherwise notified. Young people in grades 6-12 are encouraged to join us! During April, we need lots of help - voices, ideas, musicians, the works - preparing for Youth Sunday which will take place on April 21st. YOUTH SUNDAY will be celebrated on April 21st. It will be casual day at church -- jeans and T-shirts are acceptable. Please make every effort to join with our young people in their refreshing and innovative offerings and celebrations of joy and thanksgiving! CANTERBURY extends gratitude to the many people who served as Labyrinth guides and those who walked the Labyrinth during Holy Week. We had 125+ Labyrinth pilgrims. Also, as we creep forth to the end of the semester, supper providers should keep your eyes open for news about our end of the year celebration to which you will be invited. Last year, we enjoyed a gourmet feast! CALLING ALL NEW GRADUATES! - It will soon be time to honor our 2002 graduates! If you or someone in your family is graduating from High School, College, or Graduate School (or graduated since last spring) please call the church office so we will have a complete list. Our current list includes David Callahan, Julia Cathcart, Angela Evans, and Greg Schuster. LOOKING FOR A WAY to celebrate a birthday, wedding anniversary or other special day in your life? Why not sign up to be an oblation bearer. Ann McVey has the list of oblation bearers. Give her a call at 323-4995! THE EARTH LAB DEDICATION - The Duncan M. Gray Center is currently expanding The Earth Lab, which is the first completely environmentally friendly home in Mississippi. The home, The Earth Lab director's home, went under construction in mid-September and will be completed in April 2002. To celebrate the completion of this historical event, in not only Gray Center, but also Mississippi history, Gray Center will hold a dedication ceremony on April 22, 2002, Earth Day, at 10:00 a.m. on the Eco-House property. Everyone is invited to attend! MANY THANKS are extended to Kim Noffsinger, James and Juawice McCormick and the EYC for their valiant efforts and the great success of our rainy day Easter Egg Hunt, especially for the divine feat of keeping the torrential rains at bay. CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY is extended to Edna Wilkerson on the death of her sister-in-law, Morella Kimbell who died March 20th in Tyler, Texas, and to Roger Clapp on the death of his grandmother, Dot Greer, who died April 3rd in Florida. "Rest eternal grant them, O Father, and let light perpetual shine upon them." Pray for all who mourn. YOUR PRAYERS ARE ASKED FOR LaVora Williams and Lorenzo Crowell as they undergo treatment. PLANNED GIVING - A planned gift is the Ultimate Gift. The once-in-a-lifetime gift. Planned gifts are given in response to an affection and concern for the future ministry of the Church.
