This is always a fun time to visit with people you don't often see and to hear about goals and needs of the parish. This will also be a good time to meet Bill and Diane Livingston. The auction and hors d'oeuvres will be held in the Student Center and the catered dinner downstairs in the Parish Hall. Please call Nelda to make your reservations by September 27th. Invite your friends to come and bring their pets! BECOMING A PROGRAM-SIZED CHURCH - As we hover between being a pastoral-sized church and program-sized church it is important that we explore the differences and learn how we can do a better job of being the church for our members and the greater community. Please consider attending a conference on Growing a Program-Sized Parish at St. Paul's, Columbus on Friday and Saturday, October 25-26th. Details coming soon. THE CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY will be held OCTOBER 27TH, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Following the service will be a potluck supper (meat provided) in the Parish Hall and a "pounding" for Bill and Diane. SEARCH COMMITTEE REPORT from John Beal: The Search Committee has finished its work. I want to thank each member of the Committee for their hard work. The members of the committee are Babs Deas, Beth Batson, Sherrie VanLandingham, Amanda Yates, Carlton Polk, Michael Fazio, David Lewis, Leigh Jensen Crawford and Tracy Sebbins. Also, a special thanks to Sally Hester for putting together an outstanding profile of our church. The work on this committee was especially rewarding for me and I give thanks for the privilege of serving as chairman. COLUMBARIUM UPDATE from Mary Eleanor Anderson: The Columbarium committee met on July 11th to receive bids on the construction of Phase I of the Columbarium. There was only one bid offered which was from VanLandingham Lumber Company for $63,000. The Committee decided to accept the bid even though the Columbarium Fund was $25,000 short of that amount. David and Sherrie absented themselves from the consideration of the bid. The Committee felt very strongly that if the project was not begun promptly it would never happen. The committee then asked the VanLandinghams to come to the meeting so that a discussion of the shortfall of money could take place. The members of the committee, Bob and Mary Eleanor Anderson, Clark and Beth Callahan, Tommy Wakeman, and Sherrie & David VanLandinghams agreed to take out a personal loan for the needed amount. The goal of the committee is to sell additional niches before the "on hand funds" run out and the loan has to be negotiated. We need your help with this project. If you are interested in purchasing a niche NOW IS THE TIME. They are $1,500.00 for new owners. If you are not interested for yourself but know of someone who would be, they do not have to be Episcopalians, please have them contact Sherrie or Mary Eleanor. Of course, if you wish to make a contribution to the Columbarium Fund that would also be wonderful. This project is going to be a beautiful and significant contribution to The Church of The Resurrection since it will be a multi use space for meditation as well as outdoor activities for the Parish. CHILDREN'S MUSIC PROGRAM from Leanne Fazio: The Children's choir began with a pool party on August 18th. Check out pictures of the party on the bulletin board in the Student Center. There is still time to join! Choir meets on Sundays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. in the Parish Hall. JOB JAR - Thanks to all of you who have taken a job and completed it! Let's finish up all those little jobs before Bill and Diane Livingston arrive! If you have signed up for a job, please do it! If not now is a good time...choice jobs remain! Questions?
